The Waterford Community Band

This summer, the Friends of Fort Trumbull, with the assistance of CT DEEP Ranger Brian Flaherty (and his staff), are pleased to present the July Summer concerts with The Waterford Community Band on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 6:45 PM. Come watch the sunset with music at the Fort.

The Waterford Community Band is a group of volunteer musicians dedicated to learning and performing traditional, concert band music. . For over 40 years, Brass, woodwind, and percussion players from all walks of life and all skill levels have come together for weekly rehearsals and numerous free performances in public venues in the Waterford community and surrounding communities.

One of their goals is to serve their community by providing free live performances in parks, community centers, and nursing homes. In the spirit of John Philip Sousa, The Waterford Community Band serves to preserve and promote the tradition of quality, live-performance instrumental music in the community.

The Conductor of the Band is Zach Thomas-a GRAMMY nominated music educator- who is the Director of Instrumental Music at Ledyard High School in Ledyard, CT. Mr. Thomas was the Music Director and Conductor of The Original Waterford Community Band. He has previously taught in North Stonington and Norwalk public schools. He resides in Ledyard with his wife and two children.

The evening’s program will be an eclectic selection of live performance instrumental music. There will be something for everyone! Don’t miss this FREE concert at Fort Trumbull.

Bring lawn chairs for seating. The concert will take place on the great lawn at the performance pad.


The acoustics in the Fort are perfect for a concerts like these. Bring folding chairs. Come early to enjoy the grounds of the Fort. Remember: the outdoor Concerts are always FREE.


Mystic River Brass Ensemble, June 29, 2025 at 2 pm - 3:30 pm.

On Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2025 the walls of Fort Trumbull will reverberate with music. We welcome the Mystic River Brass Ensemble, which will perform a FREE CONCERT at Fort Trumbull from 2-3:30 p.m., sponsored by The Friends of Fort Trumbull state park and CT DEEP.

Mystic River Brass is a group of volunteer brass musicians who have been meeting together to play fun, challenging brass music since 2020. Their repertoire includes an eclectic collection of pop, rock, swing, and even a little polka music, all arranged for brass ensemble.

Sailfest canceled 2025 Fireworks planned.
